The 45C is a high quality medium sized rock tumbler from Lortone. The 4 pound barrel is slightly larger than that offered on the 3A allowing you to polish in larger batches or with slightly larger stones. The barrel has a 5 3/4" diameter with a depth of 3 1/2". Do not know about Thumbler Tumblers first hand. I do know about Lortone Tumblers. The QT12 is a 12 pound drum (but it really only holds about 10 pounds of agate/jasper). You can also get two 6# drums that fit in the same frame which Lortone calls a QT66. Lortone tumblers last a long time and you can easily get parts for them.

In order for it to work effectively, it needs to be filled 2/3 full with media. Six pounds means that is all the weight it can hold while the motor turns it.
