The mining industry has a significant role in India's socio-economic development, contributing ∼2.5% of India's GDP. Jharkhand and Odisha states are India's mineral-rich and leading mining states situated in the eastern region of India (Fig. 1).These two states are selected for analyzing the opencast mining impacts on vegetation.
